Description: On this tour we will visit several indigenous villages, where we learn about different kinds of handicrafts and how they are made; for example mats made of totora reed, musical instruments, weavings made of sheep wool and jewelry made of seeds. The tour also includes a visit to Peguche Waterfall and the town of Cotacachi, which is famous for its leatherwork. Finally, we will head to the spectacular Lake Cuicocha within the Cotacachi-Cayapas Ecological Reserve.

Tour Itinerary*
– 09:00 – meeting point Runa Tupari office in Otavalo (pick-up from hotel in Otavalo is possible)
– 09:30 – visit of San Rafael community, handicrafts made of totora reedgrass
– 10:30 – visit of Peguche Waterfall and a workshop of music instruments
– 11:30 – visit of a weaver´s workshop in the indigenous community of Carabuela
– 13:00 – lunch in Cotacachi, free time to explore the city and its leather shops
– 14:00 – visit of a women project in La Calera, jewelry made of natural materials
– 14:30 – drive to Cuicocha Lake, free time at the lake (~45min)
– 16:00 – return to Otavalo
