Background: Andean forests are an important source of freshwater for the Cotacachi area. Nevertheless, these ecosystems are heavily affected by deforestation, also by reforestation with introduced tree species with high water consumption, for example Eucalyptus and Monterey Pine.
Specific Activities: help in activities at a native tree nursery, soil preparation at reforestation site, planting of native trees together with the whole community.
Minimum Duration: 2 days
accommodation with a host family, full board, introduction and full training for your work, certificate of participation, discounts on tours with Runa Tupari (10-50%, depending on tours and dates)
Recommended: work clothes that may get dirty
Optional: Donation of tools and materials for tree nursery and planting.
