Background: The quality of schools in the rural areas of Cotacachi often is very low and there is a chronic lack of adequate teaching materials for the kids. Another reality that these schools face is that there often is only one teacher who has to teach several classes at the same time.
Specific Activities: helping the teacher in their daily work, design and elaboration of teaching materials, teaching of foreign languages (preferably English), playing educational games with kids, teaching a subject according to the interests of the volunteer, other activities in the school´s interest.
Minimum Duration: 15 days
accommodation with a host family, full board, introduction and full training for your work, certificate of participation, discounts on tours with Runa Tupari (10-50%, depending on tours and dates)
Recommended: If teaching a foreign language, it would be good if you could bring some teaching materials to leave after your stay. Some basic Spanish skills would be helpful, too.
